Sunday Snippet: “When I hit someone, I never did so lightly,” Plus an Anthology Release!

Time for the next Weekend Writing Warrior snippet for Amber Sky! Skipping a little ahead from last week, our main character Nash has grown tired of arguing with roguish Sawyer, and decides to do something about the gun pressed to his head…

Lightning quick, my right hand shot out and snared his wrist. Sawyer blinked in surprise. I tightened my grip until the pressure became too much and he was forced to drop the pistol. I kicked it away as he swung a punch at my face. I knocked his hand away and snapped my left elbow into his jaw.

Sawyer’s head rocked to the side. It was amazing he didn’t lose a tooth. When I hit someone, I never did so lightly.

I pulled back my left fist again, ready for the knockout punch. But Sawyer proved to be an excellent actor.

Press-ganged into servitude by a ruthless band of marauders who survived the devastating Storm, Nash has grown tired of his career– the young, undefeated champion of the Stray Dog fighting pits. All he longs for is a place to live where his family is not his enemy.

When his captain gives him an assignment to embed him deeper into the crew, Nash attempts to refuse, until the life of his friend is threatened. Determined to save her, Nash embarks on the mission to subjugate and control a supplier. But the supplier has other clients, one of which could be the son of the most feared pirate captain in all of Westraven.

And if Nash plays his cards right, the key to his deeply desired freedom, if he can live with the consequences of his choice…

Set two years before the events of CRIMSON SKY, this prequel novella tells the story of how Nash and Sawyer crossed paths– and fists. While best enjoyed before reading CRIMSON SKY, this bonus story can be read at any time or enjoyed as a standalone.

I’ve been feeling like a bad writer lately because I haven’t been putting down many words, instead working on two promotional events (one is the Cursed Box Set promo and the other will be revealed on Wednesday) for November, as well as planning for NaNoWriMo. I know that life gets in the way sometimes but this feels out of sorts for me. Still, I’m very excited for everything coming in November, and there’s sooooo much!

Blitz Sign-Up: Cursed Trilogy by Amy Braun

Lastly, who’s getting stoked for Halloween? I am! I love this time of year and am very excited to actually dress up this year! I’m going as Cleoparata and will likely be posting photos on my Instagram account. This will of course happen before I start drinking and let my eyes blur to the horror that is the film Gods of Egypt. I watched that while I was sober and got a headache afterward. Yes. It really is that bad. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great, ghoulie filled weekend and that you stay safe and gorge yourself on candy! The calories don’t count on Halloween!

Be sure to stop by the other Weekend Writing Warrior blogs and leave them some love. Or say “boo”. Whatever you’re in the mood for!

Very well written fight scene. I am bad at action sequences. It looks like Sawyer is not out for the count, however.
