Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where authors post 8-10 sentences from their current, newly released, or upcoming work in progress. I’m still posting the first chapter of Storm of the Gods, the first book in my new and upcoming urban fantasy series. Last time, Derek was wreaking havoc on the scions who had attacked him and his brother (now unconscious) while they were transporting a monstrous serpent. Something Derek may or may not have forgotten about…
The Berserker Rage added to my power, coaxing my fury.
Burn them all, they tried to kill you, killed your brother, destroy them, they’re weak, nothing like you––
My eyes caught sight of the dracaenae. It had been freed, crawled out of the truck, and was sneaking up behind my enemies. Its serpentine form recoiled at the sight of so much magic…
And turned toward the other form on the ground. The one that wasn’t fighting.
The easy prey.
I’m still working hard on NaNoWriMo, though I am vastly behind on where I need to be for my words. I’m hoping to catch up on Tuesday (not sure how this weekend will go and I bet I’ll get swamped with something on Monday), and while there’s a part of me that’s critiquing what I’m doing and knowing I need to fix it, I’m still ploughing ahead and will get to the end.
Be sure to check out the other Weekend Writing Warriors blogs and websites for your fill of sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and awesome book deals! Until next time, cheers!
