Sunday Snippet: “I unleashed my fire on all of them.”

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where authors post 8-10 sentences from their current, newly released, or upcoming work in progress. I’m still posting the first chapter of Storm of the Gods, the first book in my new and upcoming urban fantasy series. I meant to post this last week, but forgot to actually enter my name on the Weekend Writing Warriors website. My bad! So anyway… Last time, two of the criminal scions were arguing while one hovered over Derek’s unconscious brother, and another noticed Derek getting back up with Rage in his eyes. Now (finally) we see just how dangerous that Rage really is…

***

Now the dark-scion and the woman noticed me. The water-scion looked up from where she was hovering over Liam. The storm-scion cursed and brought up their hands.

I unleashed my fire on all of them.

The blaze erupted from my hands in streams twice the size of me. I heard them shout and curse, could see the tinges of smoky aether, jagged yellow lightning, pale blue water, and brilliant orange fire colliding with my magic.

They wouldn’t be able to withstand it for long. They were strong, clever with their magic, but I was a force of nature. Unstoppable when I wanted to be.

***

Yup. Hopefully that was worth the wait! There’s still more in this chapter to go (like I said, it’s a loooooong first chapter). I’ll hopefully be getting it back from my editor soon, but it still won’t be my focus because it’s NaNoWriMo! Since I’m technically doing rewrites, my word counts are way below what they should be, but I’ll be spending all of Monday working on them and hopefully catching up to where I need to be.

Be sure to check out the other Weekend Writing Warriors blogs and websites for your fill of sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and awesome book deals! Until next time, cheers!

The Rage is definitely dangerous. I’m curious to the outcome. Will they survive? Will he stop?

You might need to wait a little longer… this post is going up next week since I forgot to sign up to WeWriWa this week. That’s the first and only time it will happen! But thanks for stopping by! 😀

That Rage is certainly powerful. I wonder what the consequences of using it are going to be.

Ah, at last. But I suspect that because he’s so reluctant to unleash the power that it’s going to be difficult to re-leash. And what of the monster in the truck? Enjoying this story so much, Amy.

Oh yeah. There’s a very good reason Derek doesn’t like to unleash his control like this. More will be coming soon, and the book itself should be out next summer. Thank you so much! 😀

It’ll be interesting to see how you give an unstoppable hero problems he has difficulty overcoming.
