Welcome back to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where authors post 8-10 sentences from their current, newly released, or upcoming work in progress. Still going through the first chapter of Storm of the Gods, the first book in my new and upcoming urban fantasy series (which is almost fully edited now, woo hoo!). Last time, Derek was beginning to get reckless, and now that devil-may-care attitude is about to literally meet the monster.
I slid the kopis into its sheath.
When the dracanae pounced for me, I didn’t run. I didn’t dodge. I centred my weight and brought up my hands. Three hundred pounds of green scales, razor talons, and jagged teeth drove straight for me.
I didn’t stop it.
The deacanae collided with me, smashed me into the dirt. My elbows knocked into the ground, and I unleashed elemental fire.
I’ve only got one more paragraph to edit and another read-through before it’s done and formatting can begin. Not gonna lie, I’m delaying on the formatting because it’s my least favourite thing ever… but ARCs gotta be made, so… *sigh*. I’ve also started the edits for my YA Fantasy, but nothing *too* major has needed to be changed yet, though I’ve only had time to edit in snippets so far.
That’s all the updates for now! Be sure to check out the other Weekend Writing Warriors blogs and websites for your fill of sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and awesome book deals!
