First post of 2017! Woo hoo! This is the first day I’ve had time to do a year-end/new year post! I hope you stayed warm and had a great holiday. I surely did. Though 2016 wasn’t a great year for many, I have to admit that I was very proud my achievements: I released 4 full length books, 2 novellas, a short story, and a boxed set. Wow. I definitely felt some pride writing that sentence. Also, I was able to close out the year on a high note, since I was listed as one of One Book Two’s Standout authors!
Such an honour to have earned this two years in a row! Thank you to the One Book Two team for their continued love and support! You guys are wonderful!
But it’s a new year now, which means new challenges and new goals and growth as an author. I wish I could divulge more news on my projects, but I’ve learned the value of keeping secrets and unveiling cool surprises over the last year. So I won’t say much about my current works, though I will let you know that one is going to be a new adult urban fantasy series based on Greek mythology, another will be a young adult fantasy series with Gargoyles and Fae, and another will be a young adult fantasy standalone based on the current trend of famous villains becoming heroes. I won’t say who it is, but hopefully this character won’t be chosen by a well known, established, published author since this is such a huge trend. And if I’m unlucky and have to do it another way, well… life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it?
Still, I’m going to do my research, take my time, learn to be patient (that should be a resolution on its own), and continue to improve by reaching out to more reviewers and bloggers, reading more books to learn (that’s right, I no longer just read for pleasure, and the 210+ books I read last year were great tools), and seeking professional advice. The main goal for this year is to snag a literary agent… Okay, I’ll rephrase: The main dream is to snag a literary agent. I’m well aware of my chances. But if I fail again (and I probably will), I’ll have the chance to write and release new books in two new series’ and write a fun story based on a villain I’ve always loved. Those aren’t bad things, and you won’t find me complaining.
While doing all that and adding in a couple novellas, I want to expand the number of newsletter subscribers I have, find more reviewers, and figure out a way to boost my sales. Though I’m going to focus on sending books to literary agents, self-publishing is all I can do right now. I want to get better at it by improving my formatting and finding other outlets for my books, such as retailers and formats. I don’t think I can afford hardcovers, but I’m going to look into producing audiobooks and finding out how to make my books international. We’ll see how it goes.
But I’m rambling! There’s still a lot of excitement happening in the next few months. First, in little over a month, I’ll be completing yet another series. Yes, the final Dark Sky novel, Obsidian Sky, is coming out February 7. Preorders are available, the blog tour and blitz are open, and there will be a mega giveaway for the month, as well as sales and other exciting posts!
The final struggle against the Hellions has arrived. A trapped engineer and a desperate marauder scramble to fight an enemy with unspeakable power on its side. Time is running out, and one world will be destroyed…
After sacrificing herself to save the lives of her friends and family, Claire Abernathy struggles to outwit her Hellion captors. They torment and terrify her into working on a weapon with the sole purpose of obliterating the world, friends, and love she has struggled to save. If Claire has any chance of saving those she loves, she must delve deeper into the Hellion world, and witness nightmares she could never imagine.
In Westraven, Sawyer Kendric is desperate to find the woman he loves. To do so, he must finally embrace his family’s atrocious past and heal the wounds it has caused. He will be forced to make new allies, uncover secrets that change all he knows, and find the courage to lead a ragtag crew into the darkest, deadliest battle of their lives.

It’s going to be a hectic year. Hopefully I can be a little more organized and find a way to manage my time better. I like being busy, but I feel like I dropped the ball on preparing for this last and upcoming release. Or I’m being mean to myself––who knows!
Anyway, it’s a new year and it’s time for adventure! Woo!
