Grand Masters’ Galaxy

Grand Masters’ Galaxy is the longest series I have published to date. The series includes a short prequel and three full-length novels in a Trilogy. The stories are SciFi/Fantasy – super psychics in space. Currently, I am writing the fourth book. You can read more about this series HERE

Grand Master’s Pawn, Book 1

One young woman challenges the super psychics ruling the galaxy, and finds an impossible love.

Young empath, Violet Hunter, dreams of exploring exotic planets as a Grand Master’s pawn. When life-threatening cracks appear in the teleportal web, she is tasked with investigating the disruption. Suspicions point to the twelve Grand Masters, and she must penetrate their curtain of secrecy to identify the culprit. Her challenges escalate when she meets the enigmatic man behind the griffin avatar. She plunges into a world of deadly intrigues and risks a perilous love. Armed with only her erratic powers and a mishmash of allies, she must battle the most powerful beings in the galaxy.

Excerpt from Grand Master’s Pawn – Violet’s mission to the planet Sythos

The predators were smaller than her, perhaps she could scare them away with her laser. She walked forward, gripping the laser. The Grand Master was silent, possibly resigned to losing a pawn.

The enraged predators heard her footsteps. Three swung to face her, their open mouths revealing sharp daggers of teeth. Their minds cried, “Kill it.” Their hatred beat into her brain; they saw her as easy prey. Violet clenched her fists, and prepared to use her combat skills. All senses alert, she flung out her psi shield, hoping for some protection, while she relied on the laser for offensive strikes.

The reptiles hissed a threat. They swung their ugly heads from side to side, and raced toward her, separating to attack from different directions. Two scaled beasts leaped, and clutched for her with their pincered forelimbs. Pivoting as their bodies hurtled toward her, Violet swept the laser beam across the head of her target. It screeched, clawing at its damaged eyes, and scuttled aside. She ducked, nimbly evading the second attacker. Dodging the claws that scraped by her head, she slashed at the pale underbelly and it toppled to the stony ground. Blue blood squirted from its belly and its legs wriggled wildly.

Vicious intent cued her to an attack from behind. By instinct, she fired a psychic arrow into its brain. She sensed the reptile collapse and its mind dimmed to blank. Flashy! Her mind was a weapon.

Brandishing the laser, she swung to face another orange reptile racing at her. It paused in its headlong rush, head cocked and emitting fear. She took a deliberate step toward the terrified predator. It turned and ran toward the open desert. One of the beasts screeched and dashed to safety. When Violet advanced, the last reptiles scattered in terror, leaving the way clear to the cave.

She scanned the area. Two of the predators lay dead, and a third stumbled in circles, blinded by the laser. As she watched, it crashed to the ground and lay still, its mind fading. Violet exhaled slowly. Her first real combat was a success, although she was puzzled. How had she killed with a thrust from her mind?

She walked to the aperture in the rocky hillside. The animal inside the cave was aware of her approach. She sensed its cautious surge of hope for rescue amid the torment of its injury.

The Grand Master whispered, “Violet, be careful.” Once again, she ignored him, curious about the wounded animal.

Her translator was ready, set to the common language for communications on Sythos. She called to the creature in the cave, “You are hurt. Can I help you?”

The beast replied in the same tongue, its voice as cold as stone and as sharp as a blade, “I give thanks for your help. You have vanquished my enemies. Who are you, stranger? How can you mend my injury?”

“My name is Violet Hunter and I’m a foreigner in this land. I have medical training and supplies.”

“I am Ythris, called the Black. Enter. Do not fear me,” it hissed.
